The Date palm tree is an aristocratic and stately palm tree. The majestic looking tree has been valued for thousand of years for its sweet edible dates. Only in dry and hot climate they can produce quality fruits, but as ornamentals they can grow in many places.

Recently Date palms have become extremely popular landscape specimens in tropical and subtropical areas across the globe.  They are grown widely commercially in many regions. These trees are very pricey, but very desirable. People like them because of their striking appearance, beauty and easy maintenance.
 
The Date palm tree  looks great as a single specimen or in a group planting. The Date palm look gorgeous when planted in rows along avenues, highways, rights of ways and the center of medians. They are held up well under emissions from heavy traffic. Planting in rows, Date palms create a sense of vertical scale.

Many of them may be seen in parks, resorts, at the entrances to mansions and shopping malls.

In the United States you can see Date palms planted all over California, Arizona, Texas and Florida. First they were brought to California and Arizona, and several years ago they were introduced to Florida.

In Europe, these impressive trees have become very  popular in landscaping design in the Mediterranean Region.
